Love, Shannon

Senior Thesis

This chapter of my life, and for all of us as seniors, is almost near the end. We’ve spent most of our time thinking about the future and what happens after we graduate, instead of enjoying and absorbing the time we have here in this moment. As much as we like to think it does, things won’t be the same after we graduate. As for me, I won't be able to walk down the hallway to see the friends that I have made here and had the incredible opportunity to see almost every single night. These friendships I have found here at FIT, has helped me through it all. We’ve supported each other every single day, and formed our own family to come home to at the end of the day.

This series, titled “Love, Shannon”, documents my friendships at my home away from home during my senior year at FIT. These images reflect upon these friendships through journal entries, by embracing collaging and mixed media. Each page is made from memories with these three friends, representing the idea that home is about the people you surround yourself with.  This personal series acts as a nostalgic love letter to not only my friends, but also myself. Everything comes to an end eventually, even if you don’t want it to. Which is why I’ll cherish having this series of journal entries to look back on these close friendships during this time in my life.
